Season 11’s Tower – known as The Gauntlet – isn’t your usual dungeon crawl. It’s not about grinding for hours or seeing how long you can last.

This one’s a straight-up time attack. You’re racing through a set, non-linear map that resets every week, trying to rack up the highest score you can before the clock runs out. The score comes from killing monsters and popping chests, but the real spice is the Pillars. Some boost your damage, others multiply your score for a short burst.

Pulling a big mob pack onto a multiplier Pillar, then wiping them in seconds, is the bread and butter here. Triggering one with just a handful of mobs? That’s a waste you can’t afford. Toss in the Diablo 4 gold chase, and you’ve got every reason to plan your runs down to the last second.

What makes The Gauntlet different is that everyone’s working off the same layout each week. It’s not random, so learning the map is as important as your build. Top players spend their first few runs scouting – finding the densest monster spots, working out how to chain them together, and deciding where to burn Pillars for max effect. Movement speed is massive here. The more of it you stack, on gear and through skills, the more ground you cover, the faster you snowball your score. Every dash, blink or leap you can fit into your rotation saves precious seconds, and in this mode, seconds are points.

As for builds, pure damage with high mobility rules the day. You don’t need bulky defenses, because dying only knocks points off and wastes some time – no permadeath. Glass cannon setups thrive here. Think massive AoE, screen-clearing skills, no downtime. Rogues with Twisting Blades, Sorcerers with well-tuned gear – these are the kinds of setups that melt Gauntlet mobs. Gear and paragon choices should be all about pumping damage and keeping resources flowing so you never pause mid-run. Bosses in this mode are more of a bonus than a hurdle – wipes get you quick score injections, so long as you keep respawning shrines in your route.

Rewards are worth more than bragging rights. Hitting score milestones unlocks Seals – things like the Seal of the Blooded or Seal of the Steadfast – marking your skill level. But the real prize is the weekly leaderboard. Crack the top 100 and you get a Cache of Trials with guaranteed high-tier loot.

Rank in the top 10 and your name gets carved permanently into the Hall of the Ancients, a feat everyone can see. Combine that with the incentive to Diablo 4 Items buy, and you’ve got one mode that’s not just about skill, but also about immortalising your place in Sanctuary’s history.
